5-0 out of 5 stars ExcellentFirst Read
This is an excellent introductory text book in radiology. It contains excellent images and covers the key fundamentals in radiology. It would be ideal for the PGY1 or PGY2 resident to read through to gain familarity in radiology before moving on to the major reference texts. Very readable book that does not overwhelm the junior resident with needless minutia.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fundamental of Diagnostic Radiology
This is the single excellent book for Radiology Residents and General Radiologists. Seperate sections on US and NM are the best parts of this book. CT Scan and MRI are dispersed with the General Radiology. If the authors create seperate sections of CT and MRI like US and NM in the next edition, the book will become the only perfect book in General Radiology. This book contains treasure of knowledge for the Radiology residents and racticing General Radiologists.

4-0 out of 5 stars Concise but not enough for residency.
Not a bad overview of most subjects, but some areas are lacking. The bone trauma subsection is particularly scant, excluding all of the fracture grading schemes.Additionally, while somewhat dedicated to differential generating, you don't really get a feel for what is actually common. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Best radiology book on the market, great for nat'l boards
I graduated chiropractic school this year.I used this book in school and found this it to be filled with lots of info on soft and hard tissue pathology. The radiographs are excellent in this book.Every condition from spinal bifida occulta to fibrous dysplasia is described with the utmost detail.Every chapter has a helpful summary that summarizes all the important points of each condition.I also used this book to help me study for Part II, III and IV of the National Boards. However, if you really want a great book to study for the national boards do what my study group and I did, get the following:4-0 out of 5 stars Yochum & Rowe Essentials
An essential text for all chiropractic and medical students as well as practicing doctors.Useful write-ups on hundreds of conditions.Wonderful coverage of arthritides and tumors.Huge section on normals and a small section on positioning. The only place it's lacking is in chest and abdomen, and that's because it's a book on skeletal radiology.I couldn't do without it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST BUY!
I highly recommend these books to anyone that wants a firm foundation inradiology. The chapters follow a simple, logical progression that firsttime readers will enjoy. The pictures and diagrams that are included allowthe student to get a true feeling of the various radiological findingsassociated with disease processes.A must for any student's personellibrary! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The best
I am a physician in Brazil and I consider this book the best in this specialty.

4-0 out of 5 stars Geat Resource on the Subject.
This book offers insight to pain managment and lay out of patient procedures and functional use for pain controll. Highly recommend for students and doctors a like. Need strong medical back ground for the latter chapters, a good refernce for boards and residence programs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book
I have recently received my book and am thrilled.I have seen it at several pain meetings, but hadn't pulled the trigger on which pain book would give me my most bang for the book (Waldman, Raj, etc.).Image-Guided Spine Intervention is an excellent book and accomplishes exactly what it sets out to do, that is being a "how-to" book with superb imaging. In fact, I have yet to see a book that has more clear images than this book. While there are a few things that are missing in this book (discographic manometry, kyphoplasty-although the book came out just as this was emerging), all in the book is well worth the price.Reading Dr. Petersohn's commentary I wonder if we received the same book. The book is a "how-to" book and therefore is not intended to give clinical algorithms, although I admit it would make it an even more comprehensive book. The authors made the patient positioning understandable by referring to the projection with relation to the patient as opposed to the direction of the x-ray beam, which can be confusing.Perhaps in future editions, both positioning techniques can be given. With cervical transforaminal injections, one does not need a limiting AP projection to make sure one does not have cord or subdural penetration. If you follow their positioning and technique and intentionally hit the superior articular process, then walk a few mm anteriorly, you will necessarily be in the correct position, which is confirmed with contrast. For thoracic facet injections, previous reports including Dreyfuss demonstrate that one needs to start well inferior to the facet joint and angle cephalad in order to enter the coronally oriented thoracic facets. This book describes a technique, which demonstrates that this does not need to be done and that one can take a straight AP approach (proven with a CT injection) and still get the contrast into the entire joint.Dr. Chua's thoracic medial branch anatomy was just published this last year and post-dates this book.I agree there is no reason to give steroid after a facet denervation. The chapter on pharmacology was adequate for all pain practitioners. The book never sets out to be something to study for the boards. The statement "may be appropropriate for radiologists or physiatrists" sounds fairly hostile as well.As for discography, their approach to lumbar discography is reasonable.NASS and ISIS are only GUIDELINES not standards and there is no proof that there is an increased infection rate with single STYLETTED needle discography vs. double needle technique. They do not complain about L5-S1 access, rather that it is more difficult and that double-needle technique is often unnecessary. It makes sense to perform discography with a single needle since the new intradiscal procedures are performed that way.The authors do not list "pseudoarthrosis" as a contraindication to discography, but do list a solid posterolateral bone fusion as one due to lack of access.Read more

For MSK MRI, this is an excellent reference book. The computer-designed illustrations are helpful and the bullet-point outline form works well for MSK (I'm not so sure about other specialties). This is not a comprehensive book to cover the pathophysiology of bone disease and it is all MR modality.I use it to complement other texts such as Greenspan. ... At last a text with up to date radiological anatomy of the head and neck. We all know that this is potentially the most challenging area to interpret and none of the standard texts to date are equal to demonstrating the level of exquisite detail obtained by modern imaging techniques. The radiological images and the illustrative drawings are excellent and the organization correlates well with the problems likely to be found in radiological practice. ... Read more

I have been in the field since the 70's and find this reference to be one of the best. I always find what I want quickly and also use it for a teaching guide with students doing their externships with me. Anna Wynott B.S., R.D.C.S.

This book, is very detailed but very user-friendly.It covers basic cardiac anomilies to the more detailed,(not so common)anomolies as well as signs and symptoms. This book covers adult as well as some pediatrics. Listed in alpphabetical order, they are easily accessed. The last section covers all formulas and methods, with calculations.5-0 out of 5 stars The best echo reference
Great tables of normal/abnormal values and diagnostic criteria (more complete than Otto and Mayo manual).Especially useful for practical echo reporting. The book does assume a basic working knowledge of echocardiography: beginner should use this book in conjunction with the Otto or Mayo text. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Text and Reference
This new 5th edition is an improvement on an already excellent text on vascular sonography. Some tests are heavy on very detailed, hard-to-grasp, very long-winded theory that seem to be aimed at physicists. Still others are intentionally simplistic in an attempt to convey the basic issues, while unfortunately,

4-0 out of 5 stars new edition: think again
I have heard Annie thinks that electronic info sources and book formats like her Brain:DI. book are the way of the future and therefore a retread of this "obsolete" format (actual sentences) unnecessary.Too bad for us.

5-0 out of 5 stars Will there ever be an update ?
This is an excellent book. It has all the requisites for comprehencing and understanding the central nervous system imaging. The only defect is that it is an old book. Will there be a newer version of it soon ? or ever ? Does anyone know ?

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent basic text but...
This remains an excellent textbook on neuroradiology. I think it should still be an essential read for a neuroradiology fellow. It is probably a little too much for a resident to "read through" during his/her neurorad rotations. The pictures are of high quality. But, the text book has one big drawback in that it is becoming more and more outdated. There is no significant mention of Diffusion/perfusion/PET imaging. I found this book to be a valuable read to gain knowlegde of the basics of neuroradiology. It bridges the gap between less detailed books such as the Mosby Handbook Series (also by A. Osborn) and a more complete reference text like Atlas' MRI of the Brain and Spine. This is still an excellent book to have. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars echocardiography at its finest
As a student echocardiographer learning the pathology of cardiovascular diseases, I have both this edition and one earlier. This is well worth the upgrade in price. It has 1 second loops of most of the many possible pathologies found in echocardiographic studies. Though I have looked at the clips several times, installation was initially a short-lived problem. This new edition is a complete overhaul as described by Feigenbaum. He admits that he is not the sole author but Armstrong and Ryan are the primarys on this edition. This book's attention to clinical detail makes it a must in my book when considering Echo books. Having a resource to give you a moving example of cardio pathology can only enhance one's understanding.

5-0 out of 5 stars superb
excellent clinically oriented, very well written and organized text book, supplemented with great clips on DVD. I found it very useful for exam preparation and in clinical practice

4-0 out of 5 stars Great echo book but...
When I was a young man, I read the last edition of this book and I fell in love with Cardiology.Every word in the last edition was memorized, just like a love letter. Now I am an old man, and I was delighted to see a new edition of this book finally published.I spent one weekend digesting every word. While I found the book highly delightful to read,I am finding factual errors in the book, to my disappointment. For example, in chapter 6, page 172, figure 6.51, deceleration time of mitral inflow was drawn incorrectly (it should start from the peak of the E wave, not from the beginning of the E).Then in chapter 16, page 513, the book stated that in dobutamine echo, a hypokinetic area that exhibits "sustained improvement" rather than "bipashic response" should be read as non-viable.But in echo literature (Heart. 2001 Dec;86(6):672-8 and Am J Cardiol. 1999 Jul 15;84(2):130-4), "sustained improvement" is considered viable.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good textbook, but double-check info
This is a good textbook if you have other resources available to double-check the information. The main problem I found with this book is that it tends to contradict itself, which can be quite frustrating for a student who is preparing for a test. For instance, the text will tell you that a certain condition usually presents as a single lesion, but the table right next to it says that same condition usually presents as a multiple lesion. This doesn't happen all the time, but it is more often than I would expect for a textbook.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great Textbook for Diagnostic Ultrasonography
I have read the previous edition of this book. Compare the fourth edition, several improvements have been made in this edition: Each chapter begins with a list of key terms and definitions. Color illustrations and layout are used. A lot of new ultrasound images are added and the qualities of these images are much better. The text has been retrenched. Important points are put in tables for differentiation. Even there are still a few mistakes in this edition, I believe this is a great book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pertinence to the field of sonography
We have instructed over twenty thousand professionals in diagnostic ultrasound and have found this text to be essential to any ultrasound practice. We recommend this text to each of our beginning and intermediatestudents, regardless of specialty of training or professional experience. Sandra has, over the years, consistently compiled a comprehensive referencefor immediate and referential use.You will find it useful from the firstday in the field, and for years afterward.Although it is by no means abasic text, its style is eminently readable and easily retained. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars LA PERFECCIÓN DE UNA IDEA PERFECTA
... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Stellar Work
The wave of cardiac CT is increasingly gaining momentum in the field of cardiology. It has the potential to revolutionize the traditional practice of cardiology particularly for the management of subclinical and clinical coronary artery disease patients. Cardiovascular professionals who do not wish to fall behind the curve are rushing to equip themseleves with the knowledge and the technology. In this book, Dr Budoff and colleagues most of whom I know from their outstanding research, give hands to the early adopters. The book provides an excellent state-of-the-art review on the subject. It also reviews related applications of cardiovascular MRI and nuclear imaging. I have found the CD companion of the book quite handy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply the Best
I regard this as the best single text in radiology, and it's one of two that I use on a daily basis. I only bought it because someone stole my last one.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great review
Not the most in depth source for MSK radiology but a great overview of important topics and their MRI findings.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Musculoskeletal MRI Book.
Why can't all radiology books be written like this.I just wish that authors in other fields of radiology can write books like this. This book tells you what you need to know and not how much the author can write about a subject. It's good for anybody from resident to practicing radiologist. If you read MSK MRI, you have to get this book. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Good Review Book
I found this book a good review for the registry. There are a lot of questions at the end of the book to review the material that is covered.

4-0 out of 5 stars REVIEW BOOK
    This book is fantastic.
2-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money.
This review book was assigned to my senior ultrasound program in our last quarter of classes.A colleague of mine who is a radiologic technologist had used the A&L RT review book and found it helpful, so my expectations when it was assigned were to be able to learn and to have a good array of review questions.

5-0 out of 5 stars Medical Physics Bible!
I find this an absolutely fantastic book. It really is the bible of medical physics for radiotherapy. I had the second edition until it fell apart, and just purchased this new third edition. It explains virtually every single thing you need to know in therapy- from a theoretical point of view.
2-0 out of 5 stars Much better books available
When I started working in Radiation Therapy, somebody recommended this book to me to learn the theoretical aspects. I am also required to teach a resident lecture out of this book. The more I use it, the less I like it. While the book may contain information on all basic and necessary topics, the way they are presented is less than optimal.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must have for US library
This is an excellent reference book with beautiful images of normal anatomy as well as pathology. It is very comprehensive with General as well as OB-Gyn coverage. My only disappointment was that it did not contain any pediatric ultrasound chapters.
