A must for your veterinary library...
This book is a must for any veterinary student.My class was using a human physiolgy book, which was very informative, but was frustrating to use.The textbook of Veterinary Physiology is easy to read and well organized and has many tables and illustrations to help you understand the material.There are even case studies in the book that help you apply the information.I gave this book 4 stars, because while very informative, it does leave out a few things (those topics can usually be found in a medical physiology book).Overall, this book is a very good supplementation to veterinary students whose classes use a medical physiology book as their primary text.The only other downer (this is minor) is that the tables and diagrams are all black and white.Color diagrams would be a nice upgrade in the next edition.

This book saved me!
My physiology teacher wasn't the best, so I was VERY glad to have this book. It's very concise, yet extraordinarily well explained, with helpful illustrations. I'm not sure what I would have done this semester without it! Highly recommended.

A great physiology reference

a great teacher
This is a great overall look into the evolution and biology of birds. I'm using it as a prep for some ornithology and biology courses at university. The book goes through evolution, systematics, biology, physiology, etc. I highly reccomend it for anyone needing to do some brush up work, or as an introduction to many of the topics I've mentioned above. I think it should pretty much be a standard for anyone interested in birds...Hooray for this manual!

good source for avian physiology
This book is excellent for ornithology students and backyard birders alike.It has many detailed illustrations of the skeletal, muscular, and other internal systems of birds in general.The text gives generalinformation on each system and then more detail on specific parts.Iespecially like the sections at the end on binocular use and study skinpreparation

This textbook provides a good overview of the conceptual foundations of mouse genetics, but it is rapidly becoming out of date as it was last published in 1995. Thus the text doesn't address the current impact of the sequencing of various genomes, especially that of the mouse.Read more

Excellent illustrations; a good reference book for the equine enthusiast
This book has great illustrations page by page and covers a myraid of equine medical subjects from OCD to suspensory ligaments to foaling out. Although it is not extremely in depth I think this is a "must have" for every horse owner as it covers the topics you will come into contact with as a horse owner and talks about possible treatments at time of publishing. For a veterinary text for owners or vet students, I think this is a very good one. I own both Volumes 1 and 2 and utilize them quite a few times every year. ... Read more

I just wish this book was longer! I learned a lot from such a small book.

The Best
Anyone who owns, breeds or cares for horses, this is a must have book.Dr. Lose V.M.D. is a very caring veterinarian who has helped me out tremendously!

A good book with it's own opinions
This book focuses almost exclusively on the foal. Dr. Lose has written another book, Blessed are the Brood mares, to cover the mare half of foaling. I enjoyed this book, but found it a bit spare on the actuallyfoaling procedure. It extensively covers diseases and illnesses ...something that occurs, but not to all of us. I would have preferred moretime spent on how to keep the foal healthy and happy. I'll call the vetsover if my foal gets sick and I'll trust their opinion the best. Dr. Losecovers a long length of time in the foal's life, examining vaccinationsduring the first year, handling the foal (limited), turning the mare andfoal out (some good tips there), and feeds. She is an advocate of earlyweaning of the foal at 3 months of age. This is a debatable practice, butif you are interested in it, she seems to have her reasoning explained.

Essential Reading
This book is well-written, practical and easy to read from cover to cover. Genetic diseases is potentially a very dry subject yet Padgett's discussion of canine genetic diseases is even humorous at times. Mandatory Reading For Every Reputable Breeder
I have read books on genetics before, but this is the first that I was able to read through without a problem.Balances technical concepts with practicality. Also, indicates how it will take more than just OFA/CERFtesting and points to the need for Breeders and National Breed Clubs tojoin in an open/honest atmosphere in order to more efficiently determineand solve genetic problems. This is a must read for every reputable breeder!

This book is a great source of information that helps in a pinch. I recommend this book to all who own pets.

don't own a pet without this book!
This is a great book to have if you own a cat or dog! I've used it more than I ever thought I would. From destructive behavior to depression to obesity this book covers ALOT of issues pets suffer from and can be helped by their human gaurdians. I volunteer at an animal shelter and I see everyday how quick people give up on their pets. before you make that decision- get this book and give your pet the time,patients,and the second chance they deserve!!
