it was GREAT!
had this book been smaller, it would have been perfect! or had more photos.... i used it as a reference while i was working on my horse and it was kind of hard to manage both the massage and the reading at the same time;)

best book I have found in a decade
Having been an equine bodywork practioner in So. Cal for over a decade, I have looked at many massage books.This book is by far the most comprehensive as far as anatomy and function of the horse.One word of caution, be careful when performing the stretches he demonstrates in the book, not always the best human biomechanics are used!

This is an excellent book on equine massage. It covers anatomy in sufficient details and is well illustrated. The different moves are well explained and supported with clear pictures. I found the information on hydrotherapy, kinesiology, conformation and stretching surprisingly interesting. It gives you an overall view of the horse and it makes the book so much more useful.Read more

Very thorough and comprehensive reference
This book is a very thorough review of the diseases affecting fish. Unlike other texts, this book covers medicine from a taxonomic perspective, grouping diseases by the major taxonomic groups that they affect. One can look up differentials for skin diseases in a certain species without running down the entire list of bacterial, viral, etc. The only disadvantage that I found in this book is that it is not the most current book, and some of the info needs to be updated or more things added.

For all you folks who think wild animals are "cute".......
A wake up call for all those considering a career in the world of care/training and feeding of animals. Amy Sutherland has spent a considerable amount of time researching and getting to know the staff and students of EATM at Moorpark College....truly a unique environment! She recognizes the sacrifices these animal lovers make to give zoo,park and entertainment animals a fulfilling and safe life! Wonderful to read, entertaining and sane and nice to see a little more balance after reading all the press from PETA about how "abused" animals in the entertainment industry are. The Johnson's Elephants live better than most of my friends! Very enlightening and entertaining read.

Kicked, Bitten, and Scratched
I am a penguin/seal keeper and trainer and I loved this book.I did not go to the school, but I always heard good things about it and it was very interesting to get an inside look at what goes on there.It was an easy and entertaining read that really reminded me to appreciate the job I have, b/c it really is hard getting into this field.I would suggest this to anyone who love animals.

Best Vet School textbook
This has been the most helpful and clear textbook I've used since I've been inVeterianry school

Horrible
The most useless book I bought during my degree. The photocopied radiographs are inadequate and their explanations aren't any better. The writing is choppy and hard to follow. The only useful part of the book was the explanation of how to actually take a radiograph. If you want to be able to interpret a radiograph I recommend you find a different book.

Solid Reference
Thrall's book is the standard reference for veterinary radiology. This book is extremely comprehensive and accurate, although perhaps not as detailed as some of those that focus on specific areas of radiology andradiographoc interpretation. Way too difficult for anyone not deep into homeopathy
I was sadly misled by all these glowing reviews. You'd have to be a herbologist or a wizard from Hogwarts to make these remedies. It's annoying how they keep calling the dog or cat "your companion." And there was nothing in the index about spraying or behaviorial problems.

I purchased this book a few weeks ago and was very impressed with the simple way it was laid out.I have just ordered another 2 copies, because my holistic veterinary surgeon 'borrowed' the book and decided to keep it, and an animal naturopath also requested a copy.

Just Excelent
This is an excelent textbook of canine and feline cardiology of highest interest for any veterinary clinician (specialist and not) and any student who wants to learn before going to the real world of disease. It is in my opinion the cardiology textbook that is closest to the clinician and to the reality of the needs and manegement of the cardiovascular patient, with the most rigourous scientific literature.

While taking my cardiology class during my second year of vet school, this book came in very handy.Although my syllabus (which was at least the size of this book) provided the same information, Small Animal Cardiovascular Medicine provided clearer explanations and illustrations that I could read over and over again. Awesome Resource
This book gives step by step and detailed instructions on how to handle the many things that can go wrong in whelping a litter. I found it a comforting resource to have around so I know I am as well prepared as I can be for what may come. A must have for any breeder, hobby or professional.

Successful Dog Breeding: The Complete Handbook of Canine Midwifery
Great book to follow Breeding for Dummies. Fills in blanks and is very easy to understand. Dwells a little to much on 'breeding is not for everyone' and talking about spaying a neutering. But we all get that and we all hear that and the only reason we buy this book is to learn to breed correctly ie. what to expect in our dog and what to look for in a mate and then how to handle whelping. But overall, a very good book.

The Best and With a Great Dash of Humor

A useful resource
I found this CD to be a great resource in addition to justreading, reading, reading.There are pictures and x-rays and the format gives you a chance to practice taking an electronic exam.Some of the questions are repeated, but it helped me focus on areas I needed to work on most.I passed my boards the first time, and I know this CD helped.
waste of money and time
I bought this cd and have been disappointed from day one.First of all, there are only 200 questions per section (5 sections) which means you will be through this cd in less than a weeks time....you'd be better off buyng the book set instead.As well, when you take the mock exams you will soon discover that they have cut corners once again and have recycled questions from the previous sections into the exam.This does not test your knowledge, it tests your ability to memorize.When you're done your exam you can look at which questions you got right and wrong, but be careful because once you quit the cd, all that info is lost and you'll never get to see your precious exam marks again!All in all, i was thoroughly dissapointed with my purchase and would have been better off without it.By the way, i haven;t even written my board exam, so i am not blaming this cd for poor exam results...yet! ... Systemic Approach
This book has been very helpful as I begin my hobby in aquarium science. Fish will get sick and I like the systemic approach that this book takes.Many books on fish disease barely cover the surface and don't discuss anything but the most common ailments.Well done, well referenced.

This practical guide assists them well a neophyte's need in veterinary acupuncture.
It is a simple and easy book of understanding, of the way that the students, in his course beginning, need to understand the Chinese medicine. But for a professional acupunturist he also has his usefulness, because that the part 3 on treatment serves more commonly as a fast guide of treatment for the diseases found. Its serves as a book of incomes. In spite of knowing that the Chinese medicine seeks the treatment of the patient and not of the disease in itself, trying to balance the patient, nevertheless, as a first treatment this book aids the professional to give the first steps. I recommend a lot of this book to students of veterinary Chinese medicine and the acupunturists that are in the beginning of his professional life as acupunturist.

Could be my textbook!
As a Reiki Master who works primarily with animals, I cannot get over how respectful and full of wisdom this book is.I'm planning on using it for my textbook for my next Reiki for Animals training.

ithink this is perfect book to get comprehensive knowledge for NAVLE exams,NBVME list of diseases are best discussed in this book i strongly recomend foriegn vets to read this book.
Current and concise
After using many different references for the first half of my internship, this is the book I most often reach for now. The information is as user friendly as the 5 Minute Consult (an improvement here), and more up to date. There are many, many helpful tables and figures,and the addition of a formulary in the back is welcome. While no book can provide all the answers, I find 90% of them in here. My only complaint is the coverage of emergency care could be tweaked. In critical care situations, when I need information regarding a particular emergency in a hurry, this is not the book I turn to first.

Holistic approach
I really like this book. It's packed full of information for someone wanting to use more holistic remedies but don't know as much about it.I've used this book several times for myself and others for health questions.Definitely worth the money. Lots of reference material as well.This book is with me all the time.

This Book SAVED my dog
One of my pugs has a collasping trachea, which out of the blue turned very bad last November.She was going to the vets every 3 days and was on 4 different medications. Still she was coughing, gagging and being lost her spunk. We even took her to a Veterinary College. Short of a very intusive operation there was nothing more to be done.

Concise and Well-Organized
I'm a small animal massage therapist but have not taken a course in Traditional Chinese Medicine yet. This book is very helpful for giving a good background for what seem to be complicated concepts and multiple ideas. Acu-Cat is written in simple terms with a well-organized format. For someone who did not have any training in bodywork, this might be a bit too much but still a good intro to TCM. I'm reading Acu-Cat along with Four Paws, Five Directions and find the former an excellent resource for the more detailed topics.

Very Helpful Book
I got this book so I can better understand what the heck the vet was telling me about two of my ferrets.It is a reall good resouce for pet owners to learn more about the different medical conditions that will come up with owning a ferret.However, be warned!....This book explains thing in terminology that a vet or a vet tech will understand.It is not a book for the average person per se, but it did help me ask the right questions and to be better informed. One vet I talked to uses this book as a reference quite often.I enjoyed going through this book and it was very educational.

The Complete Book of Foaling
This is book is a complete guide for the foaling attendant.It gives handy supply lists, ideas for predicting the foaling date, and wonderful nutritional advice.There is a lot of good info on warning signs of "things going wrong" and how and when to help the mare out.Great book!It's the second copy I've owned.

Good Quick Referance
Working as a riding Instructor and manager or a riding school this is a great book to have as a quick and easy referance.
maybe 4 stars, more a quick reference than comprehensive
This was one of those books that I had a quick flick through at first and thought it was rather light in content. On second reading there was indeed a mention of 'every illness' and the front section had excellent diagrams on physiology and anatomy - including the nervous system which is often not included in anatomy diagrams.
