Herbal Handbook
Well this book is mainly only for the use for dogs.I was thinking it's be more like a herbal/ailment glossary.You know, about what's wrong with your pet and what herb to use for it.It does have that in the book but very little and it's got more literature in it than I had wanted.

the complete herbal book for the cat and dog.
This book is an excellent source of almost forgotten and useful information. I am constantly going back to reread sections and have bought it for my farming, animal loving daughters.

good overall idea, BUT...
First I will give the author due credit for her general ideas on natural rearing, caution of over-vaccination, recommendation of a natural raw diet and advice to provide plenty of exercise, sunshine and love.

This fascinating book is a valuable guide for farmers and the general public concerned about the overuse of nonnatural medicine, herbicides, and insecticides in farm management and animal husbandry. The author, Juliette de Baïracli Levy, offers detailed directions for treating all farm animals with natural methods, while stating her evidence that "mechanized" farming methods have led to the demise of domesticated animals' overall health. She asserts that poor and inadequate natural habitat, unnatural feeding practices, and a reliance on medicine to fight individual symptoms of disease without addressing the whole animal have weakened farm animals' innate disease-fighting ability. If you own goats, own this book
I am a goat farmer for many years now.I have bought many books on goats, veterinary manuals, and so on, but this book is the first one I turn to for animal ailments.Natural rearing methods produce better and healthier kids than any other method.I bought one doe kid who was so ill with a disease that affected her brain that I was going to put her out of her misery--- it was too late for a vet to do any good.With the herbal treatments in this book, the goat recovered and lived over a year in good health.

The best exotic formulary available
This is the must-have formulary for any veterinarian who works with exotic animals. Don't work on bunnies/rat/birds/etc. without it!

Exotic pet owners need this book, too
I'm not a vet, nor in the veterinary field. I'm the owner of (or slave to, if you prefer) several species of exotic pets. I bought this book because I saw it in my vets' office, and thought it would be a good way to learn more. Indeed it is. I'm lucky, in that my vets happen to be extremely good exotics vets, but many people live in places where the only vets are cat-and-dog vets. If you own a guinea pig or rabbit, getting it treated by a cat-and-dog vet can be chancy. Excellent Formulary
The KState crew does it again... pocket pet drugs galore from thepocket pet Gods. This nice little book took a while to come out, but it was worth waiting for.The book is extremely comprehensive and well referenced, easy to use and gives you multiple options on the different treatment regimes. However, there are some misprints on drug dosages which the acute veterinarian will pick up, so be careful... All in all, you must buy this book!! ... Read more

Review of Plumbs Vet. Drug Handbook
Very informational. The additions in the back of the book help very much,specifically Therapeutic Class Index. All in all, a fine book especially for the purpose I am utilizing it for, veterinary technician.

Great Resource!
This is a great resource for those of us who own pets with a number of medical conditions/number of medications prescribed.It makes it much easier to understand the medications, potential side effects and drug interactions.I feel like I can have a more educated conversation with my Veterinarian about medications and supplements now that I have this resource.I really like that fact that this book contains information about supplements along with prescription medications!Very useful!
Bigger is better!
When the box arrived I initially thought there must have been a mistake.I ordered 2 copies for my animal hospital and the box was big enough to hold two large city-sized phone books.Upon opening I realized the reason for the oversize box and suspect weight was that the books are considerably larger and thicker, and for good reason.More information (all the latest, of course), and larger typeset (which is helpful for all of us except maybe the newest of grads).Everything else is the same reliable Plumb we have become accustomed to going to for information throughout the day.If there is any problem at all its in that this volume is just a little too big to fit in the same spot in the "reference book drawer" in our pharmacy where the smaller version was kept.Come to think of it, the old Plumb spent most of its time on the countertop anyway! ... Poor quality software
I love the text book! It's one of the most useful texts in my library. I even had the 1995 CD-Rom version for my practice, and it was indispensible while on house calls. But the 2005 edition sucks.It won't work on my Mac (although the disk case says it should), uses a windows-only proprietary format that won't even search properly, has non-standard user controls, useless help files, and is basically unusable. Steer clear of this CD version and just buy the book.

Plumb Rocks!!
When it comes to veterinary drugs, this book is the bible. Does get technical in some places, but it gives you everything- interactions, and other tidbits of pertinent information. This is the first place I look to for drug info- all of our vets use it daily as well- the cover is beyond shredded! Alphabetical and in some cases both common and trade names. What more can you ask for?

Excellent veterinary companion book
This drug book is organized extremely well for easy use.You can obtain dosaging information quicker than other veterinary drug books with a convenient formulary in the front of each section.It is nice that the doses are separated for large animal vs small animal.The only drawback of this book lies in the drug descriptions in that they are not complete.The specific drug descriptions will provide a general idea of the drug's uses and major side effects and available sizes, but not some of the more comprehensive information that is sometimes necessary.

Wonderful!
This book is awesome! It has provided me with so much knowledge of drug uses, interactions, reactions... etc. Working in a vet's office this book has been a great help to me. It talks at the veterinary technicians level, as opposed to reading a lot of information that just goes right over your head. It is geared from the nurses point of view and is organized into easy to find categories, with all the similar drugs listed near it, along with possible interactions/reactions. A must have for the vet tech!

This book is a very good pharmacology reference!
I found this book very helpful for me while I was in school and while in practice. The only thing that I had a little trouble with is cross referencing the trade names of the drugs with what was listed in theappendendix.Otherwise it is an excellent book! ... Read more
